Welcome To Smiley’s Blog
I have been told often that I don’t “mince” words. I just want to say that everyone has an opinion however it can take you 5 secs or 5 mins to explain your opinion. I choose the 5 second rule. Why? Because life is too short to pretend to be someone you are not. I say it like I see it, I am who I am and you will always know where you stand with me!
I hope to write about different topics in the news and elsewhere. These are my opinions only unless otherwise stated. I will respect your opinions as long as you are respectful in how you deliver them. Feel free to write your comments!!!
Feel free to start any topics that you want……
As always, please try to remember that this is a Family site…
Thank you!!

Okay for those of you that tried to comment I have fixed the problem..hopefully now I won’t be talking to myself any more
.

No Lyn, you’re NOT talking to yourself! Would love to read about interesting customers that come through the Smileys doors, ideas you’re coming up with for new products/menu items, maybe a blurb once in a while on “getting to know” your employees?
My fiance and I are looking to buy a house, and the Smileys delivery radius is a huge deciding factor on where we relocate

yes, i often need all the distraction i can get…so im glad that there is yet one more!

Angela..are you sure you want to hear about the customers? Man do I have some stories to tell you!
I think it’s a great idea to talk about the employees so the customers can REALLY get to know them!
Hey do you need help locating a house? We certainly do not want to lose you as a customer! I think my neighbors are selling (hey if not I can make them
)
Thanks for stopping by..now I can cancel that appointment that I had with the shrink..yippee!!

Employees: I will start with the person that has worked the longest for me…Joe Aucoin. Trust me when I say this is a very heartwarming and interesting story!!
Joe began to work for me when he was 15 or 16. He will turn 31 this month..Happy Birthday Joe!!
Joe was a punk when he was younger but I still thought the world of him! He has worked here off and on throughout this entire time.
He quit when he was 16 (had some problems going on) and then came back about a year later. A couple of his friends worked here too and one day in the summer I got a phone call that they were stuck in Seabrook because their car broke down. They were waiting for someones Uncle to come tow them. Well they forgot that we had caller ID. They were calling from Dover NH. Long story short, when they came to work the next day I fired his friend Mike and Joe said “if he goes, I am going to.” I said okay Joe you do that. That was the second time he quit.
Joe worked several jobs in between Smiley’s. He worked for Quality and some factory in Seabrook. I think he was gone for a couple of years …
More to come..

Yes, I would LOVE to hear about some of your more ummm… “interesting” customers. I’m sure you get quite a few doozies!
And thanks for the history on Joe, I think i’ve heard that one before. Keep ‘em coming!
Oh, and BTW, we’re relocating to Maine. However, you’ll never lose me as a customer. Even if I have to PICK UP my Smileys, it’s still worth the drive!! ‘Specially when I scope out good beer deals that I wouldn’t otherwise know about.
Glad I could save you a trip to the psychiatrist !

I am going to continue on Joe. Joe came back to Smiley’s in 1998 and has not left yet! During this time he met the love of his life through Smiley’s (Robin) and they got married 8 years ago. He has 1 step-son and 2 little girls who he adores.
He works nights to be at home with the girls while his wife works. They meet nightly in the back parking lot, quickly give each other a kiss hello and good-bye.
I have called him several times while he is at home and I have to say what a great dad he is! I am so proud of the man that he has become…however..
I hear that at night when the doors become locked he will break out in a chorus of “I am Woman” or it will be really quiet in the store and he will yell something or try and scare the girls working….
I think that out of all of my employees, Joe is the one that customers compliment the most. He is a hard worker with a great sense of humor. He thinks the world of his co-workers and treats them like family too.
If I ever sell the store Joe will be the one that I sell it to, I have been offered in the past few months to sell..sorry I can’t do that to my employees or my customers..Pride over Money each and every time…
Furthermore, if someone wins the Powerball here at Smiley’s, I will GIVE the store to Joe!! So buy your tickets here….
The next employee……Julie my loving daughter!! What tales I have to tell
…Until next time..enjoy

We have been customers now for 7 years. In that time we have met many of your hard working and nice employees, but I think our favorite is Joe for many reasons. He does work hard, he is always funny and very cordial. He knows what we want, how we want it and has sung on many occasions. He has recommended new items, which have turned out to be favorites, especially the fried macaroni and cheese, my daughter loves it. Smiley’s definitely would not be the same without him.

Danielle,
You know, I feel the same way
. He is like my son. If I ever win the lottery or someone leaves me lots of money, I will GIVE the store to Joe! He is a great great person. Thank you for realizing that!

Lyn,
I just have to say that you are one of the most wonderful “boss” I have ever worked for. And Smiley’s reminds me of some of “the down home diners”
Keep up the good work. I can say from all of us “Smileys girls and boys’”
WE LOVE YOU.

Would you really give the store to Joe if you sold a winning lottery ticket (and received the commission)? That’s awesome, and I can’t think of a nicer or harder working man to award it to. This being the case, I WILL buy my sporadically purchased lottery tickets there, and hope that we all win!

Sean,
Joe has worked for me for years and it would be a dream come true for him to be the Owner of Smiley’s! I would love to make his dream come true!
Ahh to know us you would understand why I would even consider giving Joe the store even if it was just the commission that I won….he is a great guy with a great family that deserves the best in life,,
Thanks for reading this blog…wish more people would.
